A Dog With a Torch
St. Dominic de Guzman Lights the Way
A RHYMING RIDDLE: What do you call a brilliant illumination?
A bright light
Ever had a strange dream and wondered “what in the world” it meant? Before Dominic was born, his mother had a dream of a dog with a torch in his mouth running around the world setting everything on fire. She came to learn that the dream meant her son would be a great preacher, who would set the world ablaze with his words.
Dominic has been called the Lord’s Dog because he was loyal, hardworking, and protective. Dominic was deeply loyal to praying and following God’s will. He was hardworking, traveling far and wide to preach the Gospel. Dominic was protective of the Catholic Church that Christ founded. He did this by preaching and teaching about the truth of Jesus Christ, and His Church.
Dominic spread the light of Christ into a world lost in dark confusion. In his time, there were many misleading and false beliefs. As a student, Dominic studied hard and developed a deep understanding of scripture and theology. Then, as a preacher and teacher, he had discussions with those misled by the false teachings, illuminating clarity and charity to them. Dominic de Guzman truly was a hardworking hound, and his bright light still shines today!
